Appointment-Based System & Processing Times
The Chinese Embassy operates an appointment system for the submission of visa applications. CIBTvisas will schedule your appointment at a convenient time for you after you have submitted, and we have approved your documents. The processing time quoted is the time taken for the visa to be received after the scheduled appointment. Take this in to consideration when requesting your China visa.

  1. Visa May Not Be Required

    The Government of China has implemented a temporary visa-free regime until November 30th, 2024. During this period no visa is required for a maximum stay of up to 15 days.

    Please keep in mind that even if staying less than 15 days, you must:

    • Hold a passport valid at least six months on entry with one blank visa page
    • Hold proof of sufficient funds
    • Hold proof of onward/return airline tickets
    • Hold all documents required for the next destination
    • Confirm with their airline that boarding will be permitted without a visa as these conditions are subject to change


    For stays of longer than 15 days, a visa is required.

  2. Passport

    The applicant's passport must:

    • Be valid for at least six months beyond application date for a single entry visa; be valid for at least 12 months beyond application date for a double entry or a multiple entry visa of 6 months; be valid for at least 18 months for a multiple entry visa of 1 year
    • Have at least two blank facing visa pages
    • Be free of covers

  3. Visa Application and Photograph

    Complete the China Application Form found within the application pack and upload the Application Form and your photograph at https://cibtvisas.be/photo-service. We will provide you with your official China application form, for your signature, when we meet you before your consular fingerprinting appointment.

  4. Letter of Introduction

    You must provide a Letter of Introduction from the applicant's Belgian employer. Be certain your letter meets the specific requirements of the consulate by using our Digital Introduction Letter service. Visit https://cibtvisas.be/bcl-order to get started.

    Alternatively, please use the sample Letter of Introduction provided here and use the exact language and format provided in order to prevent a rejection and possible delays with your visa request.
    All Letters of Introduction must be addressed to the Embassy. The address of the Embassy can be found here


    In addition to the language provided in the sample, your Letter of Introduction must:
    • Contain a description of the applicant's role with the company
    • Explain the nature of the Company's business

  5. Letter of Invitation

    A letter of invitation from the company the applicant is visiting. The letter must:

    • Include the information of the applicant (full name, gender, date of birth etc)
    • Include the passport number of the applicant
    • Include the entry and exit dates
    • Include the type of visa you will need
    • Include the purpose of trip
    • Include the place(s) to be visited
    • Describe the relationship between the applicant and the inviting party
    • Include an acceptance of financial responsibility for the applicant
    • Include the full address and contact details of the invited company (name of the contactperson, telephone number and address)
    • Be less than 3 months old at time of application
    • Include a stamp and signature of the Chinese company

  6. Copy of Passport Identification Page

    A clear copy of the information page of the passport of the applicant and a copy of your old used visa for China, if you have been to China before.
    When this visa is not present in the current passport, a copy of the visa and the passport identification page is acceptable

  7. CIBTvisas Order Form

    Provide the CIBTvisas Order Form included in this kit.

    Please note that all payments will only be made upon completion of the visa application process

  8. Multiple Entry Applicants

    Travellers applying for a multiple entry visa must additionally present proof of two visits to China in the last 12 months. This must be provided as a copy of the entry and exit stamps of each visit.

  9. Holders of a second passport

    Applicants holding more than one valid passport must apply with the passport in which their last Chinese visa was stamped, if applicable.

  10. One Year Multiple Entry Applicants

    Travellers applying for a one year multiple entry visa must provide:

    • Proof of the three Business visas issued within the past twp years

    or

    • Proof of a previously issued multiple entry visa that has been used at least three times

    The introduction letter is, under the conditions mentioned above, also required for tourism. The letter does not have to be provided if the applicant is a student or unemployed.

  6. Proof of Travel Arrangements

    A copy of the flight itinerary or e-ticket

  7. Proof of Accomodation

    A confirmation of the hotel with the applicant's name on it

  8. CIBTvisas Order Form

    Provide the CIBTvisas Order Form included in this kit.

    Please note that all payments will only be made upon completion of the visa application process

  9. Double Entry Applicants

    Applicants requesting a double entry visa are obliged to provide a flight schedule or e-ticket showing that they will enter and exit the country twice. Proof of accommodation must be submitted stating where you will be staying during both stays by either the hotel, friends or family.

  10. Holders of a second passport

    Applicants holding more than one valid passport must apply with the passport in which their last Chinese visa was stamped, if applicable.
